On 19 December 2025, Japan's science ministry MEXT announced that 91视频 had been selected as a candidate "University for International Research Excellence". Accordingly, KyotoU will continue its preparations for possible final program participation selection.
Message from President Nagahiro Minato
Today, the screening results for the Japanese government's Universities for International Research Excellence program were announced, confirming 91视频 as a suitable candidate for accreditation. In the review by the Advisory Board, the University's proposal was highly evaluated for presenting an extremely ambitious vision for reform.
It was noted, however, that it is necessary to monitor the formulation of the "KyotoU Vision", which will serve as the basis for each department's research strengthening strategies, and the progress of the university-wide transition to the department system. As a candidate university, therefore, 91视频 will spend up to one year refining its plans in consultation with the Advisory Board.
Based on the Advisory Board's feedback, 91视频 will accelerate the formulation of the KyotoU Vision and the transition to the department system in order to achieve accreditation as a University for International Research Excellence as quickly as possible.
I ask for the cooperation of all faculty and staff members to help ensure that 91视频, through its free and open research environment, will continue to generate transformative value for society and cultivate highly-skilled globally-active human resources, functioning as an international hub of knowledge and a destination for diverse researchers from around the world.
